To do list – Sacramental

Over the last project, Inspiring People of faith I learnt the importance of sacramental and how being sacramental is to be an example of God and as if you are in his mighty presence. Some steps I am taking to be Sacramental are:

Random Acts of Kindness-I believe that Random Acts of Kindness is an important and simple way to resemble God’s likeness. By doing random acts of kindess you will get used to doing it as a habit and you will not need to try and it will come naturally. Things I could do include simple things like jus saying hi to a guy i don’t know, being helpful, help someone if they are struggling with books, encourage others in what they do well and a whole lot more.

Note: Mr. Hays presentation gave me this idea about it being a habit

Another small step I have taken on so i can be sacramental is to help my mum as much as possible. I believe that this is important as our mothers help us with everything and that we could not live without them. Things I can do to help my mum include taking out the rubbish, getting the sunday paper, keeping the house tidy etc.

Journal Entry 11 – Effective Design

1. Discuss the major design problems.

1407904539_469d041c82.jpg

A design problem with this slide would be that the strips of grey in the

background takes your focus away from the writing. Another factor

would be that the writing is a bit shiny and has a bit of extra light.

chart.jpg

This slide’s writing in the key is very miniscule and cramped

making it hard to see each colour and country. Another part

is the bit of writing underneath the main title. This is impossible

to read regardless of its importance.

powerpoint_redcap.png

This slide here has issues with its choice of colour. The background

colour coincides with the text and also for the context it does

not state what will eat your soul, heart etc.

Journal Entry 10 – Multimedia Data Types

“A multimedia system is an information system that combines at least TWO to THREE types of media, such as text, hypertext, audio, images, animations and video”.

1. Provide a description and an example of each type of media listed above.

Text-Text is basically writing tools in letters e.g microsoft word and writing.

Hypertext-Hypertext is text which will transpor you to another domain/website

they are also known as hyperlinks. An example is this website

http://www.parraeels.com.au/

This text here will take you to the Parramatta Eels website.

Audio-This is basically the sound or what you here. It could be a

radio recording or a music track in a powerpoint etc.

Images-These are pictures of important things which can provide information

which can not be used in text. It can be used to show proof or evidence.

This picture of the eels Jersey could be used on a blog if one was writing about

a new jersey to show evidence. It can also be used to point out things in the past etc.

Animations-Animations are pictures with motion. They can be also thought of as short

movies. Animations are also not an effective source in presentations as they distract the

audience from the speaker. An example of an animation is this one of the Cross:

3d_cross.gif

Videos – Videos are films/movies which are 24 pictures per a second.

Like pictures videos can be used to produce evidence and show visual

to text. Videos can also be used to make decisions such as the Video

Referee and the Third Umpire. This here is a video of Jarryd Hayne

scoring his debut try for N.S.W on halftime.

2. Outline three problems of the design of the powerpoint slide.

 Biography
 1. Too much writing in small space. (dot points easier)

2. Writing, small (20 preferable)

3. Information too long, summarising notes and then speaking and expanding is better.

Journal Entry 9 – Effective Presentations

1. What is meant by the 10 – 20 – 30 rule?

The 10 – 20 – 30 rule means that you should have 10 slides on the Presenation, It should take 20 minutes to finish the powerpoint and the font size should be 30 so you can have a lot less text and it forces you to have a lot lest in the PowerPoint.

2. Explain why it is important to make sure that you are effective in the presentation of your nominee?

It is important that our presentation of the nominee is effective so the audience understands:

  • How the person is an inspirational person of faith.
  • How the nominee represents Marist Charism and qualities of Jesus.
  • What we say or write on or presentation.
  • The presentation and does not fall asleep etc.

Journal Entry 8 – A look at Parables

1. Read the parables and identify the inspiring quality that Jesus is trying to teach us.

The Parable of the Unmerciful Servant: That we must always forgive one another no matter

how many times nor how great the sin.

The Parable of The Persistent Widow: That you should never lose faith in what you do as you

will be rewarded in the end.

The Parable of the Rich Young man: The link does not work.

2. Provide an example of a real life situation or person who has demonstrated the above qualities

you have listed:

A real life situation I believe which demonstrates one of the above qualities is the Beaconsfield Miners.

The quality that it represents is the Parable of the Persistent Widow.

Brant Webb and Todd Russel remained in the mine for exactly 2 weeks only surviving with a muesli bar

and later food which was delivered. The two of them never gave up despite the amount of trouble they

went  through.

Another quality is of the Parable of the unmerciful servant. Something which represents this is Shane Warnes

wife Simone. Simone forgave Shane many times despite how much times he slept with other women

Journal Entry 7 – The values of Jesus

1. Define the term “beatitude.”

The term “beatitude” were a sermont on the Mount. Jesus describes the inhabitants

of heaven, and how each person will be blessed. Their were 9 beatitudes in all. They

all are like Blessed are those who are…………., they will……. etc.

2. Explain the purpose of the Beatitudes.

The purpose of the beatitudes is similar to that of the Ten Commandments except

they are not laws. The Beatitudes is a guide for Christians so they can reach heaven

if the Ten Commandments are a bit hard.

3. Select one beatitude and describe how inspiring people of faith put into

practice the teachings of Jesus. Use an example to support your answer.

Beatitude No. 7 – Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called children

of God. A significant person is William Wilberforce. Willberforce worked hard for

the abolition of slaves in England. He is the reason slave trade was arradicated from

England and is therefore a child of God.

Journal Entry 6 – Joey Johns vs Mother Theresa

aj

1. What do you think the image above is about?

I think that this image is about who out of Andrew Johns and Mother Theresa

was more inspirational. Johns was inspirational on the field and when he got caught

with the ecstasy tablet he admitted while he could have said he found it etc.

Mother Theresa was inspirational with the missionary work she did in countries

and her amazing love. The difference between these two is the amount of good

work that they did. Joey was good on the field while Mother Theresa did work

for other people which is the main difference.

2. List five qualities of Andrew Johns?

  • Amazing Kicking game.
  • Electric pass.
  • Drug Abuse.
  • Leadership.
  • Committment.

21

3. List 5 personal qualities of Mother Theresa.

  • A warm heart.
  • Considerate.
  • Advocate for poor and helpless.
  • Faithful.
  • Gentle.

4. Discuss what you believe is the difference between inspiring people

and inspiring people of faith.

I believe that inspiring people are people who make achievements

either by sport, music, entertainment etc. Inspiring people of faith

to me are people who inspire others because of their faith e.g faith

in God. Inspiring people of faith are the ones who should be given

the most recognition because of the level of the work that they do is

more helpful to the community.

Journal Entry 3 – Inspiring People

1. Select ONE person who you consider to have inspired you

and provide a short background of this person.

One person I believe to be inspiring is my Church Pastor Alan,

Alan was born and raised in Gymea and was a local at Gymea Baptist.

He had a good job but the Lord told him to devote his life to the

teaching of his word. Alan left everything and obeyed the Lord to

become a pastor. He learnt at Morling College in Sydney.

He has been a pastor at Grays Point Baptist Church, Junee Baptist Church

and Northwest Community Baptist Church in Quakers Hill where he

has now been Pastor since 2000

2. Discuss briefly why you consider him to be inspiring.

I consider Alan to be inspiring because he was one who listened to God

and left everything he hadand more importantly it was his obedience to Gods call.

3. Import atleast ONE picture and ONE hyperlink that can add

to the information you have provided about your inspiring person

or inspiring people in general.
