Fibre Optic Technology offers so many advantages when used in medical applications.

Some of the ways that Optical Fibres can be used in the Medical Industry include: illumination, flexible image bundles, light conductors, flexible light guides, laser delivery systems, equipment interconnects, light therapy, x-ray imaging, ophthalmic lasers, lab and clinical diagnostics, dental hand pieces, surgical and diagnostic instrumentation, endoscopy, surgical microscopy, and a wide range of equipment and instrument illumination.

b) Identify the traditional medical techniques that optical fibres might replace.

Some traditional medical techniques that might be replaced include:

Lights used by doctors, dentists, orthodontists etc.

c) Evaluate the benefits of fibre optic technology to medicine.
