Investigate other theories of the origin of the universe or suggest your own.

The origin of the universe is a topic which is debated by many different groups. In religions, their is a theory by both theists and atheists. Theists have a belief that the universe began from an intelligent designer. In the 1900’s the Atheists believed that the universe was “eternal.” This opinion was later proven incorrect in the 20th Century such as Einstein’s and Hubble’s theories.

Homework 26th May

1 State how old the universe is thought to be

The universe is thought to be approximately 14 billion years ago.

2. Identify the time when the young universe suddenly inflated.

The time that the universe suddenly inflated was within a fraction of a second when the universe began to expand fairly slowly

3. Matter and antimatter didn’t totally destroy each other after the big bang. Explain why it is lucky that this didn’t occur.

4. Identify what particles grouped into threes to form protons and neutrons.

Particles called quarks grouped together to form protons and neutrons.

5.  a) State the proportion of hydrogen in the universe.

     b) Explain why hydrogen is the most common element

Hydrogen is the most common element because it is a substance which is found in almost everything in the universe.

6. Describe what is in a hydrogen nucleus

In a hydrogen nucleus you can find 2 hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom

7. Explain why the early universe was opaque.

The early universe was opaque because it contained energy in the form of radiation

8. Describe the effect on the ‘fog’ of the continuing expansion of the universe.

The continuing expansion of the universe caused more radiation.

9. Penzias and Wilson detected evidence for the Big Bang. Clarify the evidence they collected.

Penzias and Wilson produced an image of the universe when it was 300 000 years old. They collected this via the COBE satellite.

10. State what the acronym COBE stands for.

Timeline of the Bing Bang

Big Bang: 10,-6 seconds

This is when the universe was created. It all began with the Big Bang, which was a cataclysm. From this the Universe was formed. At this time the universe was very hot and dense. Soon after it began to cool down and also it started to expand.

Universe begins to shape

After 1 millionth of a second, the universe continues to expand however it becomes less dense and it cools down. Some things which we would know, began to appear. Things such as gravity.

Galaxies begin to form soon after. The universe at this stage did not have an even distribution of energy particles. This gave the forces an opportunity to start collecting matter.

Gather information about:

a) Hubble’s involvement in Space Research

Hubble was a key figure in the 20th Century. Edwin Hubble was one of the greatest every astronomers in the world. It was Hubble who came up with the theory that the galaxy in which we live in (The Milky Way) was not the only galaxy which existed in the universe. He is named after one of the famous telescopes called the “Hubble Space Telescope.” By the end of the 1920’s Hubble had created a system for classifying galaxies. Hubble has made a discovery of approximately 46 kinds of galaxies in the universe. Without the knowledge and the brains of Edwin Hubble, our world would not have known some of the many wonders in the universe.

b) What the space telescope does.

The Hubble Space Telescope was designed to provide clear views of the galaxy.

c) Where it is

The Telescope is located in orbit around the earth.

d) What Hubble’s constant is

Designing a car properly is an important aspect when designing. It is important that the plan is applicable and can be used in the real world and is not simply an idea which can go down hill straight away.

 Article 1:

This design is easy to use and a very aesthetic pleasing design. It uses quality materials in the design. While it is very small and has great turnning stability it is a threat to the driver. As it possesses a very small body, it is a great threat to itself on the road. As it has this small body it is at victim to trucks, cars, four wheel drives. Also if hit can get sent flying due to it being small and lightweight.

This page is about Nrma inssurance. Insurance is an important part of owning a car as you want and need to be assured that your car is covered in case of an accident. Safety too when designing a car is vital so that insurance is not too much of a problem. When designing a car designers must think effectively so that they design a car which is not going to be prone to an accident or crash.

What preliminary research did you conduct to commence your project?

I completed various preliminary research. This included a concise definition of a prototype in a design of a product. I learnt how prototypes are simply trials and tests of what the expected final product will turn out to be. Another thing I researched was on Ford’s cars which are manufactured. I researched Ford’s claim on the materials used in all cars and the uniqueness of Ford cars. Another thing which I researched was Manipulation. I researched what manipulation can do to design, the benefits it has and its definition. These are the topics which I researched as part of our pairs preliminary research.

Define the term ‘prototype’. Each group is to establish a common understanding of this term.

Prototypes are replicas or forms of showing what the expected will turn out to be. They are generally used so that a marker etc, can get the basic idea of the expected product. Prototypes are important aspects of the design process as they help designers look at what stage they are at the project and how the final project will turn out. It gives designers ideas of what they can do in terms of functionality, asthetics and more.

1. What does being in a relationship with God require me to do?

Somethings which one must do to be in a relatonship with God are:

Respect god how he is not some mean guy and acknowledge his presence in the world

Pray. Prayer is the only way in which we can communicate with God and talk to him, ask for forgiveness or to praise him.

Attend church. Being there at church at least once a week gives us the opportunity to come and be prepared to worship him and be in his presence.

2. What does loving my neighour as myself require me to do?

Loving your neighbour as yourself requires you to do the following:

Open-Minded: If you are open-minded to all people, then people will be open-minded to you. If you really care about them then they will care about you.

Respect: Respect is the only way to gain respect from others. For example, if you have a friend from work who has a different Religion, then you respect his and then you will become closer.

1. There are allways two sides to a conscience . What would Rogers conscience be telling him?

Rogers conscience would be telling him these two cases:

Help the poor kid: Part of Roger does want to save this kid. This “positive conscience would be telling him who cares about your clothes, you need to save someone who does not have the same talents/skills as you do, a person who does not have everything that you do. This conscience woulf be also screaming out to Roger that he needs to save this teenager and that it would do no harm to him at all.

Ignore him, who cares: This view of Roger’s conscience is a lazy and is not open-minded. This “negative” view is self-centered on Rogers and that he comes first. This conscience is asking him why should he hurt/wet himself trying to help someone who is too careless. This view is very much like Satan telling us not to do the right thing and trying to influence our conscience.

An example of Jesus’s teaching is when
